Description

The UCSF Radiology – Interventional Review program is a comprehensive continuing medical education (CME) activity focused on interventional radiology (IR) procedures. It covers a wide range of topics related to both vascular and non-vascular IR procedures, including emerging areas of practice. This program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of radiologists practicing in the field of interventional radiology, as well as newly qualified interventional radiologists looking to expand their expertise.

Here are some key details about the program:

Topics/Speakers: The program covers various interventional radiologic procedures and includes presentations by experts in the field. Some of the topics covered include aortic stent grafting, pleural interventions, hepatic chemoembolization, bone biopsies, arterial interventions, venous interventions, and more. Renowned radiologists from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and guest faculty contribute to the program.

Learning Objectives: After completing this program, participants should be able to:

Describe contemporary methods of vascular recanalization, including the use of common devices and their indications and complications.
Recommend percutaneous methods for lower extremity therapy, such as varicose vein treatment.
Select and use appropriate embolic agents for hemorrhage treatment in trauma and gastrointestinal bleeding cases.
Recognize indications for procedures like percutaneous nephrostomy, percutaneous abscess drainage, and percutaneous biliary drainage.
Evaluate the success rates and indications for uterine fibroid embolization.
Identify contraindications for percutaneous biopsy.
Differentiate between devices used for percutaneous ablation of liver and kidney lesions.
Recommend the use of hepatic arterial chemoembolization and Y90 radioembolization, along with their contraindications.
Utilize various imaging techniques, including CTA, MRA, coronary CTA, and noninvasive arterial assessment.
Describe the current status of carotid artery interventions and vertebroplasty.
Intended Audience: The program is primarily designed for radiologists actively practicing interventional radiology. It is also suitable for newly qualified interventional radiologists who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills. The focus of the program is primarily on body IR procedures rather than neuroradiological interventions.

Accreditation: The UCSF School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide CME for physicians.
