We are offering a short course on the assessment of professionalism for healthcare educators. The issue of assessing professionalism is critically important in this age of accountability and challenged regulation.
Objectives
– Learn about approaches to professionalism assessment from the current evidence-based literature
– Consider the challenges in assessing professionalism in the healthcare professions
– Develop some strategies for assessing professionalism systematically
– Learn about foundational principles of feedback
– Consider the challenges in giving feedback related to assessing professionalism
– Engage with some examples of ‘unprofessional behaviour’ and discuss possible strategies for giving feedback
