The comprehensive instructional program Breast Cancer: New Horizons, Current Controversies covers the entire spectrum of breast cancer treatment. The management of breast cancer survivors, advances in diagnostic techniques, and disease mechanisms are some topics covered. The course’s main objective is to increase oncology-specific healthcare professionals’ clinical knowledge, proficiency, and skills. As a result, the curriculum is appropriate for all clinicians who treat patients with breast cancer, including medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, general and breast surgeons, internists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and oncology nurses.
Learning Aims:
After doing this exercise, participants will be able to:
Apply current expert recommendations and knowledge of recent clinical data to patient selection for novel and upcoming medicines for advanced breast cancer.
Apply knowledge to the treatment of breast cancer in particular demographics (such as old and young women) and modify treatment choices as necessary for individual patients.
Make evidence-based therapeutic decisions for women who are candidates for neoadjuvant or adjuvant therapy and are aware of the limits of genetic testing. Where relevant, choose suitable risk assessment modalities.
Apply current clinical research and professional advice to the management of breast cancer patients who have mastectomy surgery, including the incorporation of surgical techniques, breast reconstruction choices, and post-mastectomy radiation if necessary.
Consider the need for fertility and lifestyle counseling among patients with breast cancer and survivors, and evaluate current practices with regard to symptom management during active treatment and in survivorship. If necessary, update current procedures.
Analyze your own personal and genetic risk factors for breast cancer, and use the right genetic tests to identify hereditary breast cancer.
