This online CME program was created with the assistance of renowned faculty from Stanford University Hospital, University of Colorado, and Johns Hopkins Hospital in order to give you a solid foundation in both the performance and interpretation of vascular ultrasound. It was also created in collaboration with the medical and technical directors of the vascular labs at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Your ability to apply knowledge in patient circumstances will be improved by the real-world examples and case studies provided in the Clinical Approach to Vascular Ultrasound and RPVI Prep Course. Topics for lectures in online continuing medical education include:
Basic imaging and physiologic tests of the lower extremities that are used to identify and treat peripheral artery disease
Subclavian and vertebral artery architecture and imaging: normal and abnormal
Prediction methods and indicators for impending bypass graft failure
Overview of the general principles for identifying and diagnosing pelvic congestion syndrome, May-Thurner syndrome, and venous thoracic outlet syndrome.
Dynamic TCD investigations, the surgical procedures that followed, the follow-ups, and more
Learning Goals
After doing this exercise, participants will be able to:
Showcase clinical interpretation of noninvasive peripheral, cerebral, and abdominal systems arterial and venous vascular investigations.
In the vasculature, including dialysis grafts, endovascular operations in the aorta and peripheral system, and bypass grafts, discuss the clinical application of velocity criteria for grading stenosis.
Explain the fundamentals of ultrasound physics and technology as they relate to vascular diagnosis.
Review the subjects that often appear on the Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) examination.
Create and implement a program for vascular laboratories at their institution of residence
Intended Audience
Primary care physicians and specialists in medicine are the intended audience for this course. Additionally, general and specialty surgeons, practitioners preparing for the RPVI, and practitioners looking to open a vascular lab may find this course to be of interest.
